Taking apart a candle lantern?

I have a old candle lantern and the bottom is enclosed with holes in it. I want to take the bottom out that holds the candle so I can clean underneath of it. it is attached with pieces of bent brass. I can not bend the brass to get it open any suggestions?

Take a real good look at it before you start bending anything. My candle lantern sounds like yours and might seem difficult to take apart but the part that holds the candle actually slides out. First try and get all the melted wax out of it because that might be hiding the part that slides. I know mine does and if it is covered in wax, you wouldn't ever know that is did slide out. Clean all of the wax out and see before you start to bend it. Then you can also take the magnifying glass out to clean really well, but as for the candle, it should be made to slide out.

The oil is the mysterious part to the liquids in the lamp -

They are usually glued tpt he base.

Here you will find a few of the more set ups and the more popular replacement oils:

It's essence is the liquid in a bottle with a small amount of heat under it - Usually a small wattage light bulb.

You have mentioned a candle - but the bottle holds the liquid and shouldn't be that difficult to take apart.
