What do /.\ and (.) mean?
I've seen these a lot on social networking sites but I can't figure out what they mean. Google ignores punctuation, so naturally I get no results. I know that in French (.) can mean 'mon cul' (my ****) but I don't think that is what they mean in English.

/.\ is an embarrassed face covering his eyes /.\ with his arms
The period is the mouth, the slashes are the arms.
It's easier to see with the parenthesis making the sides of the head.
A neutral face:
('.') "nothing to see here, just boring old dull me..."
Here he is with his arms out:
\('.')/ "woo-hoo! Yay! Yippee!"
But now with his arms coving his face:
(/.\) "OMG, I can't believe you said that, I can't believe I said that, don't judge me, I can't look..."
(.) may be a variation of the neutral face ('.') above or the arms covering the eyes, depending on the person sending it. Some people confuse these faces for sad faces when they are used to convey disappointment.

/.\ means a sad face like looking down and (.) either means a boob as in (.) (.) two boobs or a person bending over
