How much tip would I get as a hostess in Queens, NY?
I just got a job as a hostess. They told me i'll be getting $5 an hour plus 30% tip. What does that mean? is it 30% off waiters tip or the restaurant overalls tip ? The shift is 5-10 so in 5 hours, how much tip should I be making?

It will be 30% of the overall tip out. Servers have to give a certain percentage of their sales, or tips, to the restaurant. That money gets split between the kitchen staff, bussers, hostess, bartenders, runners etc. If it is a slow night, and the tip out is $100 total, you will get $30, if it is a busy night and the total is $1000 for the night, you will get $300
