Which airline should I fly with?
I am planning on taking a trip to Chicago in a few months and want to know the best airline to fly. I'm not trying to fly first class, but by no means do I want to get on an airplane I think is about to go down. I will be flying from GSP to Chicago O'hare (I think is the name of the airport) The cheaper the ticket, the better, but I don't want to go on some crappy plane either. The flight will be round trip. I just need suggestions for good airlines, as I've never flown alone. Thanks in advance.

As far as I can tell the only airline that flies non-stop between GSP and O'Hare is United. You can get to O'Hare from GSP with United, (non-stop available); Delta (connection); or US Airways. (connection)/
The guy who suggested Southwest should look where they fly. Southwest uses Midway Airport in Chicago, they do not fly into O'Hare. If you are okay with flying to Midway rather than O'Hare, Southwest has non-stop flights from GSP.
All of these airlines fly modern commercial jets and have good safety records. Make your choice based upon what is most important to you. Cost? Non-Stop flight? Different airport in Chicago? Decide on your priorities and then go to the airline website and book your flight.

I fly a lot. I have flown with every major airline worldwide. After looking over the airlines that fly out of GSP, I'd go with Southwest (they fly into Chicago-Midway), primarily because they don't charge extra for baggage and they have the best flight staff in the industry. The one drawback is that with Southwest you can't pick your seat when you purchase your ticket. With few exceptions, all seating is open seating. Some of their newer planes do have a business section, and upgrade fees are pretty reasonable. When purchasing your ticket you can upgrade to priority seating for a few bucks more, which allows you to board in the first boarding group, which means you can sit wherever you want (and get off the plane first if you sit in the right seat).

Ashlie, US Airways is American now. When I need to travel within the states when I come down, I use American.
