Help with HDD boot problems?
I have an HP A sieries desktop. Every time I boot it it says "HARD DRIVE FAILURE! PUT IN BOOT DISK AND SELECT ENTER" message. Its the most annoying thing ever. When ever I unplug it from the wall press the power button then plug it back in it is ok and boots. If I restart it does the same thing. My other HDD doesn't regonize in bios doing the same thing. HDDlife says both are healthy at 60%. SMART Boot loader that came with bios says it is at 60%. Why does it do this? It regonizes IDE devices just fine. If someone has a thing that boots from CD or DVD that boots then can boot the HDD or any other suggestions? Would a SATA to IDE adapter work with windows 7 and just not use the sata ports? I have tested the drives in other computers, replaced sata cords and everything. The HDD light does turn on when it boots and the both hdd's spin apon turn on. Best answer to the person who helps the most.
There is no way to disable the SMART thing. Both Sata ports do this with all sata drives. I have an HP pavilion a1210n

Disable SMART in bios and see if it still does it. Have you tried a different sata port? It only has one port? If that's the case you probably need to upgrade your system with a newer motherboard. I would do that before buying one of those adapters. What's your HP desktops model number?
