did you know that JW's agree with the Pharasies?

Like the Pharasies, JW's don't believe in the divinity of Jesus.

Update:

Does anyone know what aeneas mean?

Think you're confused. Trinitarians are the ones who agree with the Pharisees.

The Pharisees, like Trinitarians, tried to say Jesus WAS God.

Jesus corrected them and said he was God's Son.

So will you continue to think like the Pharisees?

Or will you listen to Christ, like Jehovah's Witnesses do?

    "Pharasies"?

FYI, JWs DO believe in the divinity of Jesus.

JWs believe that Jesus is A God, just not Almighty God.

So, not only can you not spell "Pharisees," [did you not wonder what the red underline was?] but you obviously don't understand the definition of "divine."

Divine: of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God or a god.

Do you mean Aeneas [a person, not a thing?]

Acts 9:32-35 states: "Now as Peter was traveling through all the region, he came down also to the holy ones who lived in Lyd′da. 33 There he found a man named Ae·ne′as, who had been lying flat on his bed for eight years, for he was paralyzed. 34 Peter said to him: “Ae·ne′as, Jesus Christ heals you. Rise and make up your bed.” And he got up immediately."

The only other Aeneas I've heard of is the mythical Trojan hero.

John 5:19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself,

What lie was Jesus replying to?

vs 18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

Here Jesus denies being equal to God.

He goes on in 5:30 “I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgement is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

That Jesus didn't come to do his own will but the will of his God.

Sam may be a father, a son and a grandfather, but Sam has only one will unless you are talking about Sam, Sam Sr. and Sam Jr.

    .

I hope you don't mind if I believe Jesus and not trinitarians / pharisees.

The Pharisees aren't even around anylonger. How can we agree with them. So, no, Jehovah's witnesses don't agree with people that are not alive at this time.

What we do agree with is the Bible. The Bible in no way states that Jesus is God. Jesus is a divine one, but not almighty God, Jehovah.

  • All the Jews believed in ONE true Almighty God since the beginning of time not just the Pharisees. As they were taught and given the word by God himself.

Only pagan idol worshipers and those even teachers/leaders (even some Pharisees) in the Jewish faith who defiled God's teachings and the true Jewish beliefs are the ones who often had a Trinity of gods. (the golden calf etc)

    In Deuteronomy

They use the Tetragrammaton יהוה (YHWH) many times showing who that God was

    Deut 6

3"O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. 4"Hear, O Israel! The LORD (tetragramation YHWH used) is our God, the LORD (Tetragrammaton used) is one!

Jesus gave a cross reference to that very scripture in Mark 12:29

    New International Version

"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

If he was quoting that scripture is was more likely he used the name as they wrote it than with the tetragramation name rather than Lord as many say today

*Jesus was a Jew & most Jews believed in one God and taught that- he did "NOT" reject that teaching. Not at all ! ! Nor did he teach another.

Something many who call themselves Christians should remember but often don't

(many other cross references as well as to one Almighty True God)

    James 2:19

You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.

    In that they agree.

Jews were and are taught that the True God is One, God is Indivisible, and this is found throughout the Hebrew Scriptures. That they named that One true God with his personal name not a title shows who that God was compared to others called such -Tetragrammaton used over thousands of times. In Isiah it says " Thou shalt have no other gods before me.' Even if you think they are gods, you cannot have them before the one true God. You do not pray to them . Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips (Psalm 16:4).

Jesus often did rebuke the Pharisees. But not everything they believed was wrong: remember, they were right about the resurrection (which the Sadducee weren't) So, we Christians should be careful to condemn the Pharisees (or any group) only for the things for which they were wrong on. They were more known according to the NT for their pious attitude and human traditions and adding to God's teachings rather than the true word of the One and only true God.

According to the NT, The Pharisee pointed out the tax collector's errors, not because he sincerely desired to help the tax collector, but to brag about how much better and more righteous in knowledge he thought he was. But wasn't. This was typical of the Pharisees nature of that time in the NT. Do we see that in some people today?-very much so, I see that in posts some make

aeneas -as in mythology? What is?- being like so? What, meaning the name? Or did you mean Who? And your point being?

    (Tim--good--yes the man in acts)

Does anyone know what a "Pharasies" is? Maybe if you are going to ask a question about the Bible, you should read it first. I have never heard of the "Pharasies" but I do know about Jehovah's Christian Witnesses and they definitely believe in Jesus.

I'll make this easy for you. Go to http://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/are-je... and see for yourself what we believe.

    1) I am not convinced that the early Christians believed in the "divinity of Jesus". On this issue you could have just as easily compared JW's to the first Christians and been correct.

    2) As an ex Christian who has studied Judaism I find it laughable when someone attempts to compare any Christian Denomination with any branch or sect of Judaism.

Jesus wasn't born perfect. Hebrews 5:9 being made perfect, he became. So Jesus was not born perfect.
