How much weight can I realistically lose?
I am 17 year old female. I am 5'9" and currently around 294 pounds. I want to lose some major weight. Starting tomorrow I am going on a strict diet with plenty of water, proteins, and fruits and vegetables with a strict calorie limit. I also plan on exercising for at least 30-45 minutes at least 4-5 times a week. How much weight could I lose in 5 months by doing this ? Also any tips or ideas are welcomed !

Unless you're being watched by a doctor, don't do too low calorie of a diet. Aim for ~1500. At your size, that will help the weight come off more steady, and (hopefully) without making your skin too saggy when you do. You could try something like weight watchers - I myself did it for some time (until it was just too costly for me to keep going - and I found that going to meetings really helped me. (Once I stopped meetings, my motivation rather sagged. Not pretty.) I'm sure there are online communities that you can find for support, if WW isn't your thing. I do recommend getting your hands on a WW cookbook - they have really good recipes that are tasty without being too calorie laden.
Also check out the book 'The Diet for Teenagers Only' ( http://www.amazon.com/Diet-Teenagers-Only-Barbara-... ). It has a lot of tips that you might find helpful. It helped me lose weight back in high school (until I was a stupid person and began skipping meals... don't do that. It's not good for your body...)
As far as I know, a reasonable weight loss per week is 1-2 pounds. So, 20-40 pounds would be a guess of what you could lose, as long as you are getting in that sweet spot of enough-but-not-too-many calories.
