What's a good recording program for PC gaming?

I'm not sure what some Youtubers use to record their games, but I've always used Fraps to record my gameplay. It records the games uncompressed, so they take up tons of space (several GB) until you encode and edit them down to a reasonable size.

Fraps cost $37 to buy.

Bandicam is a free alternative, but I've never used it, so I can't really comment on it.

try out Fraps :) there's enough guides on google on how to get the full version for free and its a great recording program that records in high quality. Files get huge though when recording in full resolution so you might want to change the basic output folder to a place you can store the files and once in a while edit them together into a full HD video which greatly reduces the size

DON'T USE FRAPS because its not free and it makes a very big file size which takes you days to upload on youtube!

in fraps 30 seconds is 278 mg!

so i recommend you to use D3D gear or bandicam

i recorded with D3D gear for 15 minutes and it took 160 mg

and i reduced the file size using Handbreak so its 60 mg and it took only 8 minutes to upload on youtube

I REALLY recommend Fraps. You can record gameplay and your desktop and has the option (if you plug in a microphone, or most webcams have them) you can record your voice at the same time. Fraps is what I use to record on my YouTube channel!

Bandicam is awesome for your needs. It's lightweight, has presets for YouTube and has settings for recording your mic and PC audio and mixing them for you at the same time. It encodes the videos so the filesize is small.

You can use either Fraps or Bandicam most of the Youtubers use fraps but bandicam i good for slower PC and its easier to USE
