Is this a "deep" saying?

“In the absence of that which you are not, that which you are is not.”

    Is this a "deep" saying?

    ~~~ As a puddle of spit!
    “In the absence of that which you are not,
    ~~~ Being what you are...

    With nothing that you are not...

    that which you are

    ~~~ What you are...
    is not.”
    ~~~ ... isn't.

    You aren't what you are!

    It's as deep as any schizophrenic nonsense saying can be, I guess...

    Most such 'bumperstickers' cannot pass a precursory critical examination!

    Which is fine, because most are incapable of that much 'deep' philosophical thought!

    On second thought;

    It could also be saying that all 'opposites' are necessary for the Whole!

    Without "that which you are not", there can be no "that which you are!"

    With 'Heads' OR 'Tails', there can be no One Coin!

    "For every Perspective, there is an equal and opposite Perspective!" - The First Law of Soul Dynamics

    Simplified;

    In the imaginary world of 'thought', 'guality', there can be no Yin without Yang!

    Not possible.

    The wording seems deliberately poor! *__-

    I read a statement rather than a question, and I am miffed at the pretense.

    The quote is saying, pretty much, that a person has identity because their identity contrasts with other people's identity.

    It's moronic.

    Strikes me as a crock. I am not a professional football player. Whether there is one of those around or not, I remain what I am, and what I am remains something you can be.

    Sounds like bubble-gum, "this is that and that is this" type of BS.

    I suppose that means in order to be myself I have to be the opposite of myself.

    No. It sounds more like a non-sensical saying to me.

    It does not compare with nothingness as you are or not!

    Not as deep as "No matter where you go, there you are."
