I'm 16 and I still don't know what career I want?

Do people seriously know what they want at this age, because I have no idea!!!!!

I mean when I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian but I really don't have the grades for it (Im an A/B student, but mostly Bs)... But ohh man, my dad wants me to become a doctor ;(

At this age almost everyone's career choice will change and it may change entirely. As you grow older you gain more experience these experiences will shape who you are and your interests. As of right now ask yourself what you're interested in, pursue a major similar to that field and let experience take you from there. Trust me you'll know as you get older, it takes time.

Edit: Don't do something just because you want to impress others. Do something you're interested in first, it's your life no matter how badly you mess up your parents will always be proud of who you are and love you.

Source(s): Im 17 and changed my career choice a few times already. This is my last year in HS and im not afraid that i'm still unsure of my career choice but i am trying to major in something familiar. Who knows...maybe i'll become something entirely different maybe even something i dread learning about now or while i was younger. It's okay to feel scared, lost, stressed and out of place...i feel that too(:

joining in clubs and things that interest you now can give you clues for your future profession, no stress needed!

I'm 18 and still wondering about my career, but have some good ideas. people have much longer life expectancies, so we can change careers or decide late if we want to.

talking to a career councilor at your school can help, and there a lot of quizzes you can take online that you log your interests into and they give you 25 or so of your top likely.

Don't let your dad pressure you, med school is hard, but harder still if that is not what you want to do. just tell him you don't want to, and feel like he is pressuring you. lots of school left, and saving to do before anyway. Goodluck!

don't worry and just have fun of being teenager. thinking of professional life at age of 16 is too early and you'll spoil the fun of being a teenage. i'll advice you to get into relationship, join clubs and gyms, etc. to make the most of this age instead of getting worried.

The time will decide that you'll become a doctor or engineer.

    Have Fun!!!

Lorena don't be worried and have patient dear. I would like to suggest yes your fathers ambition for you is good but you should follow the way that your heart saying to do. So at first you think from your own what to do and if you are not getting any way then better to do conversation with your father regarding your choice.

    HI ,

This is the age when your mind will fluctuate But you need to sit silently and decide what you love and what you are good at.

Please don't decide your carrier by looking to others and listing to you father .

And Grades are only matter to select a college or school ,but it will not mater to get a job or getting in to a profession. So joining a higher class school/college is not mandatory to get in to that profession.

    Best of luck :)

This is what college is for.You may find a class that really grabs you or find a club, group or sorority that moves you in a completely different direction.

Just keep your grades up and start looking doe different kinds of financial aid. You might even get a full scholarship.
