Is it odd that I am very religious, but...?
I find people take religion way too seriously? Anyone else feel this way?

The way you say it is almost an Oxymoron or some type dichotomy.
Religion scares me. What religion? What faith? Man made laws
and man made doctrines are doomed to failure. Like, having to have
my hair cut a certain length, or having to go to church EVERY Sunday,
I live only by what the Holy Bible, God's Word says. It teaches us to
abide by man's laws so long it does not conflict with His Word. If we
could all live in His truth we would have a lot less chaos than we do now.
Of course, how can I possibly say that Jesus Christ is the only way?
How hateful can I be.
Best wishes to you

Reminds me of ME when I was younger (and religious)
To me, my own faith and what I did in church was very important to me, but being religious out in public (like praying over a hamburger at a fast food restaurant) always seemed absurd and embarrassing to me.
To me, my religion was a private thing about me, I had no interest in proselytizing others or controlling their lives.

I think the problem is knowing the difference between living a spiritual based life and being religious. Religion is a method of practise and is an aide to being spiritual. Being religious only leads to a dedication to ritual and dogma. Being spiritual only can cause one to drift off course. I am a servant of the living God, this is my spiritual desire. My religious practise only bolsters this desire.See what I mean?

I find it odd because it's not the popular thing to do in today's world. We live in an era where it's all about "me" and not about others, much less a God.

if you were that religious you would take it seriously. It is not a joke after all.

Sounds like you have taken the first step in breaking free from your chosen belief system.

Being a fully committed Christian IS a very serious business but also a very joyful one as we KNOW for sure where we will spend eternity!
