Our Lord Jesus, cleansing us by the washing of the water in the Word day by day?

Ephesians 5:26

That He might sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing of the water in the word,

We are being prepared to be His Bride, without spot, blemish or any such thing.

How important is it to you, as a believer, to be sanctified by the Lord by the washing of the water in the Word?

What does this look like in your private times with the Lord Jesus?

Thank you for spending time to post to this question.

Update:

lol Scott. You would not believe how precious it is to have your feed spiritually washed by the Lord Jesus. Outta this world! He is so real and precious to those who open their hearts to Him. :) Wish you would, at least once in your lifetime :) Well worth it.

Update 2:

Jesus when washing the hands and feet of the Apostles said to Peter if I wash you not you have no part with me. So yes I love to be washed by the Lord. The word of God is truth and life. We are drinking in wells and springs of water when we read the word and study it. I try to read at least three chapters a day and if I miss I always catch up when I can. The word of God is what washes us and make us sanctified to be a Christian you have to know the word of God and let it dwell in your inner parts. thanks for the question friend. God bless.

I notice that this is said in context of husbands loving their wives, just as Christ loved the Church. This helps to understand the ethereal picture of the Church being present to God in heaven as the beautiful, radiant bride of Christ.

We all know the way a bride washes herself, adorns herself and makes every effort to appear beautiful for her wedding day. And her husband was enjoined to appreciate all of that and to love her.

There is, indeed, a cleansing aspect when allowing the word of God to symbolically pour over us, or to sit and refresh our feet in a basin of water after tramping round our little word with the gospel. Yesterday, after time on here and feeling weary, I went to the Bible study and prayer meeting at the church and I was revived! One of the brothers gave a tour de force on how we are made in God s image, the trinitarian aspects of this, and such-like. Mind you, I am now speaking of refreshing, and not cleansing, which is what you are really asking about.

It is the purity of God's word that cleanses. There is a need not to allow any contamination to infect the word of truth. If the waters are muddied, and we wash in that, we will not be cleansed. As an example, there is a group who believe that they can still be Christians even though they will never comprise the Bride class. They think that is limited to merely 144,000 from the time of Christ till now! So they are not being cleansed by washing in the pure water of the Word even though they pour lots of it over themselves regularly. That water has been muddied with a dreadful lie and they are being prevented from becoming part of the Bride class as a result. It does not necessarily follow that everyone who washes daily in the Word is being cleansed, because others might have polluted that water first. This speaks to me of the need to ensure that the Word we use is the pure word of God and not contaminated with teachings of men. AiH
