Can you list some of the many aspects that the Word of God is to a believer in Christ?

-Can you place a verse(s) where the Word of God is spoken of.

-Its function in your life.

Eg.

Ephesians 5:26

That He might sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing of the water in the word,

The Word washes and sanctifies me to be part of the Bride of Christ.

If you feel to expound or share an experience of any of these examples it would be deeply appreciated.

This collection of verses would be a source of strength and supply to so many of us.

Thank you for giving your portion.

Hebrews 4:12 springs to mind: "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." It's amazing how the word of God springs to life and transforms the believer, speaking directly into their situation. We need to immerse ourselves in the word, reading it and drinking it in and allowing God to deal with us so we may be better able to do His will.

That reminds me of James 1:22: "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." Given the warning in Hebrews 4:13 we do well to apply the word of God to ourselves!

Perhaps one example of the power of God's word is the day I was sitting in a U.K. Baptist church and the lay preacher briefly mentioned the significance of John 1:1 about Jesus being the Word incarnate. It was almost as an aside, not really part of the main theme of the sermon, and the preacher didn't dwell on it. But the penny dropped, spiritually speaking, and all of a sudden I "got it." I'd never understood the Trinity, but after that revelation, it became crystal clear. Where had I been all my young spiritual life? Just waiting for the Spirit to choose the right moment to open my eyes.

Oh, yes. The word of God is alive and active all right!

As a regular sort of bum, drunk and drugged most of the time, living in the sewers and drains and under houses or bushes life can be hard. All I ever wanted to do was come up for air long enough to obtain some more alchohol and meth so I could go back and be comfortable in my little spot under some bush on the side of the hill overlooking the city. Things would have been just fine for me had I not run out of booze and drugs. Being sort of bummed out and really down and in need of a fix all that I could do was pick up this peice of old torn book laying in the dump and start to read it just to help me pass the time. I would still be there in that dump enjoying life as it was had it not been for the words in that book. Step by step I started climbing myself out of that place and have never returned. Any time I have doubts I just open up that old book and find something to keep me thinking for awhile. Now I am here, typing away on the Internet drinking coffee in Starbucks waiting to go and pass the time with my grandkids. I have no idea who wrote that book or how it came to be. But I am glad it did come my way. Word of God? Heck, I'm just fresh out of the sewers. God in a world like that is that frogman coming down to unclog the whole system every now and then.

Some days I do not feel like I am living in the Spirit and I am a little down in Spirit. Then I think of this verse. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. It is true that Jesus is with us always he gives us strength to carry on. I find that if I stop and go to the Father in prayer that I am refreshed when I lean on Him in Jesus name. Jesus is my rock my sword my shield he is the wheel in the middle of the wheel. Jesus loves us so much he strengthens us for the daily battles we have no one can cheer me so as the Lord Himself. Thanks for the question friend God bless.
