Should the Patriots sign a Free-Agent WR?

For the 2014-2015 season they could maybe sign Hakeem Nicks, Riley Cooper, Eric Deckers, or Jeremy Maclin to complement Gronk and Brady

If anything, the Pats need a good tight end to throw to, especially with Hernandez and Gronk out. They are fine in the WR area. With Thompkins, Dobsin, Edelman and Amendola; Brady is not lacking for WR's to throw to.

The problem wasn't really the wide receivers in the Broncos game. It was Brady himself. Three times he overthrew the receivers. Brady can play incredible at times. But for the last several years he hasn't played consistent from game to game.

If they had had what they thought they were going to have going into this season, the offense would have been unstoppable. No gronk for most of the season, Vereen out most of the season still wearing a cast on the wrist which impacts catching, Hernandez in jail, Amendola once again missing significant time with injuries, wasn't healthy the entire season. Both rookies playing hurt off and on all season. The offensive line has also been shuffled all season with people like mankins limited in his movement yesterday or playing with three replacements most of the season.

Brady has a good selection of young receivers. We need another tight end on the offensive side. There was talk of the Pats picking up Jace Amaro or Erick Ebron in the first round of the draft. (Tight ends).

I would not doubt it for a nano-second that Belichick is ALREADY looking for a better wideout.

Sure Brady brought up his current crop of receivers to a respectable-level, but that does not get you to the SB as we all noticed in the AFC-C.

Meanwhile Peyton has this plethora of uber-talented wideouts and it was clearly evident that pocket passing gurus Tom and Peyton can ONLY match each other when both men are tooled with quality weapons.

Tom had NO one comparable to throw to.

Peyton had EVERYONE to throw to.

source: the canyon of difference in quality receivers that Peyton has and Tom lacks.

They could use better receivers. Brady really missed Gronk today. Their biggest need is probably defensive backs.
