oil light problem need help!!?

I hit my engine on a railroad track and it started to make rattling noises seconds after. Drove it home fine. When i got home i noticed an oil light. Oil was full and not leaking. Oil pan was dented but also not leaking. There is a louder rattling now and is hard to accelerate. White smoke out of tail pipe as well. Car hasent been driven for about 4 months. What could be my problem

Your oil pump is right inside your oil pan just above t

he bottom of the pan. It has to SUCK the oil up from this reservoir to circulate the oil . IF the bottom of your pan is smashed AGAINST this oil pump screen, and restricting its ability to SUCK up fresh oil, you will lose oil pressure, lubrication and you will start "burning up" your engine for lack of lubrication..

The initial "rattling noise" could be indicative of the oil starved oil pump running DRY. It is supposed to be totally submerged and fully lubricated with a constant supply of oil through the intake screen. If this is BLOCKED or restricted by an oil pan smashed up against it, nothing is getting lubricated.

Beyond the initial "rattle", as the engine continues to degrade, the pistons will start to run dry, the engine will start to smoke, overheat and eventually seize and damage the engine irreversibly.

It may be too late already, but DON'T drive the car. Have it TOWED to a reputable mechanic and have them evaluate the damage to your oil pan.. Clearly, this is NOT just a loose oil sensor wire.
