Audacity won't play back recorded sound?
I set up my computer for audacity and everything works fine, I can hear the track record and see the blue wave line, but when I stop it and go to play it back, no sound comes out. Of my headphones. I think it's a problem with the playback setting on my Windows 7 computer, but I'm not sure.
My mixer is working like it's supposed to so I know it's either the computer or Audacity. Any suggestions?

Hi,
First of all, check the playback device in Audacity is set to "Speakers (Your sound card name)". This setting is at the top of the screen and just left of this should be an icon of a loudspeaker. It should say this regardless of whether you are using computer speakers, Tv speakers or headphones.

For some reason, whenever i try to change it from Direct Audio to Speakers, it immediately returns to Direct Sound and prohibits my use of headphones or speakers. Assistance?

I found it, but there are two speaker icons and I was looking at the wrong one. The one to change to speakers is in the second of four boxes immediately above the timeline.

I had hard time in playing back my recorded song despite of browsing through several forums i could hardly get any conclusion fortunately I managed to play . simply replace "MME" to "windows direct sound " this option is available in lowest tool bar left to microphone icon . once these settings are changed move cursor at any point in your recorded song and then hit play button (green traingle) at upper left corner.
