my computer keeps freezing randomly?

So, my computer randomly freezes (as you could tell by the title), and this has been going on for months. The problem is, i cant search something specific because it is completely random, some days i can play games for hours with nothing happening, other days, the computer freezes before i can even click on a game. The only thing that i think might be the problem is the fact that i have an old graphics card. That or defragmenting a SSD might be the cause. if anyone could help, that would be great.

Defragmenting a SSD is extremely bad but would likely take many passes to do so. These problems can be annoying to find the source but here are a few things to check out.

First open Resource Monitor and watch for any high CPU or Disk activity. Secondly, make sure Superfect under Services.msc is disabled -- ESPECIALLY if you have a SSD. Third, check your hard disk for integrity using whichever method you prefer. Four, although not very likely the case make sure your computer isn't over heating.

clean the cpu and video card cooler. and vents every 3-4 months with canned air outside. re-acclimate computer to inside for 24 hours before plugging in. never defrag an SSD, it reduces its lifespan.
