What does the red lapel pin worn by many Repbulican congressmen represent?

I've noticed in many media photographs numerous Republican Senators and Representatives wearing a lapel pin with an insignia I cannot make out, and surrounded by gold laurel leaves. What does that pin represent?

(It is not the same pin as my avatar, which is Gold Star Family lapel pin, for direct family members of servicemembers fallen in combat,)

An example of the pin in a photograph is linked below, the Wikipedia article of Representative Louie Gohmert of Texas.

Update:

Aha. Thanks, Jon. As soon as you gave me its correct name, I was able to track down the details of the pin. As it turns out, each new Congress has a pin struck so that the members of Congress (particularly the new ones) can recognise each other amongst the swarms of people on Capitol Hill.

That pin (like the Gold Star Family Pin) is also protected by law: one is not permitted to display, possess, or wear it unless one is authorised to (in the case of Rep. Gohmert's example). Thank you.

Update 2:

And yes, both Republicans and Democrats wear the pin. I just missed it in various media photographs. Searching again shows that both parties wear the pin, not just Republicans. My assumption was that perhaps it signified something like membership in the Republican Party.

Does the pin also include an electronic beacon so that the NSA can keep track of where members of Congress are at all times?
