If you believe in service to your country, and you are in good health and do not have any felonies, then sure, it is a good idea. If you are afraid of combat, or have religious qualms, then another career might be better.

It is a different lifestyle. There are a lot of pointless things you do through out your day. The pay is 1800-2000 a month. And you spend a lot of time through out the day standing around doing nothing. When living the military lifestyle, you have less choices than a civilian. You live in barracks, your wall locker has to be arraigned a certain way, NCO's inspect your room, you have a roommate. The Military chooses where you go, what you do, what time you're doing it, not a lot of freedom for your own choices.

I Was in from age 19-23, I wouldn't want to go back and do all that again.

    ARMY, ARMY, ARMY, ARMY

The United States Army is the branch that both serves the people and protects the people.

They don't discriminate against AGE, SEX OR EDUCATION

At age 31 your more than eligable for the following:

    Attack Helicopter pilot

    Army Airborne Rangers

    Green Berets

    Army Infantry

The Army is the best out of all the branches, the Army wants people to serve and could care less

about age. After all in 1777 the mean age of General Washington's men was 39

It depends on what you want to do, what you can do physically, and how good your health is. There are people in who are twice your age. If it's something you really want, go for it. Just make sure you know what you want to do in the military first.

In addition to Keith's answer, if you're physically capable of doing the training, that would help. And you also have to be willing to take orders from people much younger than you.
