Could a female betta live in this tank?

It is 165l with

- a guppy, female

-a platy, female

- 8 neon tetra

- 5 silver tipped tetra

- 12 platy fry, 3 months old, all are at least 7-8 mm

- 2 snails

- 2 bristlenose pleco

Could I have a female betta in there? If the betta would eat the fry how big would they need to be to not get eaten?

It depends on a few factors. Some bettas are more aggressive than others, so it could go either way. This tank seems big enough though where it could work, but it would help if the tank was well planted. About the fry, almost any fish will eat anything they can fit in their mouth, so if they get eaten, it could be any of your fish. Many people advise not to put bettas in community tanks but there are people who have done it with success. I say go for it, but be very cautious about it and know that something could potentially go wrong.

Female betta should be fine in a relatively large tank like that, and shouldn't eat part grown fry. It's likely to eat smaller ones though.

However the fry aren't growing very well? They should be more like 25mm at that age. Probably not getting enough food in the community tank? Young fry need frequent feeding.like timy amounts 5X a day. In a large tank with other fish they are probably only getting enough food to survive, not the amount they need to grow.
