How to leave working in a charity shop?
Near the end of the summer holidays I started working at Barnardo's. I want to leave to get a paid job but I feel bad because I haven't really been working there long; 5 months on Sunday's for 3 or 4 hours. Have I been working there long enough? And do I have to hand in a resignation or just tell my boss I want to leave.
Also I didn't need a CV to work in Barnardo's so I've never written one... I'm 15 and so due to my lack of previous jobs and the fact that I have not yet taken my exams there wouldn't be anything to put in there. Do I need one? Would it be okay to just give in my report card? It says my current grades, predicted grades and attendance.
Thanks and sorry there's a lot.
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment6 years agoMy Betta (Siamese fighter) is very injured and I have no idea how?
I got him 3 days ago, he lives in a 24 litre tank. I looked at him and thought he was dead, but then I saw his gills were moving, his fins are REALLY badly torn.
he is laying of the 'ground' not moving (except gills). The only objects in the tank are lived plants and a halved coconut which has no sharp edges. The filter couldn't have done it because its a sponge one. there are no other fish in the tank. He can swim, but not very well also his movements are very short and sharp. Mainly he just lies there not moving.
Is there anything I can do :'(
3 AnswersFish7 years agoMy Male Siamese fighting fish (Betta) is flaring at his reflection?
Hi, I've never kept Siamese fighter's before so if I'm doing something completely wrong please let me know :)
He lives on his own in a cycled 24 litre tank with a heater at 26 degrees C and a filter.
There are 3 live plants, a little glass tunnel and there is a little halved coconut with a door that he likes a lot. He hides in the plants or décor some of the time but since I turned on the lights this afternoon he has occasionally been flaring at his reflection! He hasn't been trying to fight himself or anything I'm just a bit worried he might be stressed. Is there anything I can do?
2 AnswersFish7 years agoCould a female betta live in this tank?
It is 165l with
- a guppy, female
-a platy, female
- 8 neon tetra
- 5 silver tipped tetra
- 12 platy fry, 3 months old, all are at least 7-8 mm
- 2 snails
- 2 bristlenose pleco
Could I have a female betta in there? If the betta would eat the fry how big would they need to be to not get eaten?
3 AnswersFish7 years agoGuppy breeding question?
My guppy STILL hasn't had fry. I bought it a month ago and the women at the pet shop told me she didn't know when it became pregnant but she guessed it would give birth within a week. 4 weeks later. nothing. she eats, doesn't normally hide, square ish but has been for a week now, you can see the little tiny specs at the gravid spot which is very dark but again has been since I bought her, water quality is fine, ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 15. the tank is 28 degrees C, there are no males but she was with males when I bought her. I have neon tetras (15) platies (2) black widows (3) the tank is 165l
Why is there no fry yet?
2 AnswersFish7 years agoHow often do you change the water in your fish tank?
How often?
How much?
What size is your tank?
How many fish?
I have a tropical 165 litre tank with 25-30 fish in it. I do a 30% water change every 2 (although I do confess sometimes it's 3) weeks.
Is it better to do smaller more regular water changes or larger less frequent ones?
Thanks in advance :o)
10 AnswersFish7 years agoMy pregnant platy got smaller?
She is still definitely pregnant and is not and has not dropped any fry because she's been in a breeding net but and I've pretty much been watching her since I bought her at about midday so there's no way she's eating them, has the stress of being moved caused her to absorb the fry?
she looked VERY close to birth when I bought her.
now though she's still bigger than a not pregnant fish but not nearly as big as she was.
Her graved spot was reeeeeeally big, now its still dark and big but not as much
has she absorbed her fry?
will this cause her to die?
if she hasn't aborted then what's happened to her?
please help I'm very new to this
1 AnswerFish8 years agowhen will my platy give birth?
I'm sorry but I can't give a picture so I will explain best I can. She's big and box like and her gravid spot is really dark and big, and there is also this white dot at her behind, I know all these things means she's close to birth but I have no idea how close. Any advice appreciated
2 AnswersFish8 years agoMy pregnant guppy has squared off?
This morning I noticed my pregnant guppy's belly had squared off, you can defiantly notice the different when you look but she's only very very slightly square.
How long until she will drop, I unfortunately have no clue when she last gave birth.
do guppy like to give birth when the lights are on or off?
my tank is at 28 degrees C, is this ok?
are there any symptoms of labour I can look out for?
ANY other tips would be great
1 AnswerFish8 years agoHow many tropical fish can go in a 165 litre tank?
that's 36.2 imperial gallons/43.5 US gallons
I already have 25 fish, two of them are pregnant guppies, none of my fish are any bigger than about an inch across
2 AnswersFish8 years agoHow long can a pregnant guppy be kept in a breeding net?
I bought a pregnant guppy today and one of the members of staff told me that it looked like she would drop in around a week or so, I've put her in the breeding net but I don't know how long I should keep her in there for?
Also how long does it usually take for the fish to drop all the fry?
how long until the fry are big enough to be let out into the main tank?
I have a community tank, 165 litres, with neon and glow light tetras, a platy, some black/white widow fish and one other female guppy (that's nowhere near dropping yet), altogether I around 25 fish
Thanks :)
2 AnswersFish8 years agopregnant guppy ill or ready to drop?
I know that pregnant guppies hid when they are about to drop but I'm really worried about one of my guppies in particular, she usually hides by the filter and would never come out but now she has been completely out of sight for two days, I hadn't seen her once, I was worried she might be dead or trapped so moved the big boat I have in my tank and she was under there, when I found where she was she floated nose down and then got sucked onto where the filter sucks water but she was moving and breathing so I got the net and moved her, she then swam (quite badly, not going very quickly) along the ground back to the boat, she went under it back out of sight! she didn't look very well at all, her belly was big and square but her gravid spot is no longer black but orange (and higher up?), under her gravid spot it is really different from when I last saw her too; her tail half is as normal but it goes straight down like a step straight at her gravid spot, its really hard to explain sorry. Can someone please tell me if she is ill or just very pregnant? and if she is just pregnant when, realistically, is she going to drop and also how long it will take for her to return to normal? if she is ill what might it be and what can I do?
2 AnswersFish8 years agoOblivion on Xbox 360 won't work?
When I turn the Xbox on the game part just says open tray, even though the game is in there, then I open it then close it and sometimes I get a black screen then a window pops up that says the disc is unreadable and to either clean the disc or restart the Xbox I have tried both :( , the game has NO scratches apart from one on the ring closest to the hole (not the plastic, the silver part that says Xbox), is this the problem?
to see if it was the disc or the Xbox I put a different disc in and it worked then I put the oblivion disc in my computer to see if it would even come up and it did so the disc is obviously readable, what can I do to make it work on the Xbox?
1 AnswerXbox8 years agoDo I have enough hiding places in my tank for guppy fry?
I have read a lot that breeding boxes commonly cause stress to the pregnant guppy and apparently causes her to abort them or die or loads of other stuff I don't want to happen, so, since I have 6 female guppies all very pregnant I'm going to leave it and let the fry find places to hide...
It's a 165 litre tank with a large hollow boat, three little close together bushes, a sponge bob's pineapple house, two fairly tall plants (about three quarters of the way up the tank) and behind the boat there are two medium pot plants close together, the boat is almost at the back, so the pot plants are right at the very end of the tank providing quite a good place to hide (bigger fish don't have access to it)
If I don't have enough hiding places can anyone give me any idea's on something to make? What materials would be toxic or hazardous?
I have I few other fish too,
3 male guppies
10 neon tetra's
3 red neon tetra's
a leopard danio
2 black widow fish
4 white tetra
and 5 penguin fish
Will these fish be a problem?
1 AnswerFish8 years agoI have a few questions about my pregnant guppies?
I have six female guppies, all are pregnant I also have 3 male guppies, they haven't been bothering the females much (just the occasional nudge) but I really don't want them to eat the fry so I have decided to make a breeding box, this is my first time with pregnant guppies so I have NO idea when to separate the females.
Also when do I put the fry back? I am going to feed them egg yoke for the first few days, is this wise?
All the females have a very dark and prominent gravid spot all are bigger but only 3 are sort of squared off, one has been hiding a lot recently and spitting out her food she still moves around a lot though, sometime strangely, really quick or backwards and forwards, she isn't as huge as I've seen others on Google images, does this mean she has a while to go?
