sewing ends of carpet?

I need a large area rug for my bedroom size 10x10 but they are very expensive. I was thinking about buying a piece of carpet that size but is there a place I can go to get the ends sewed some how? Or any ideas what I can do? Thank you for your help!

You can have the cut edges of carpet bound but having that done is also expensive. $7 a foot, I believe, last time I asked, and that was some years ago. Ask at a carpet store if they can have that done or know who does it in your area.

You can pick out a piece of broadloom (wall-to-wall carpet) and have the edges bound. As others have said, this can be a bit expensive.

But check around with local home supply warehouses (Home Depot, Lowes) to see if they have any bound pieces on clearance. You can also google carpet manufacturers and check websites for pre-bound pieces. We bought pre-bound 100% wool carpet runner for our stairs for $275 - plus about $30 in shipping. You won't have as many choices, but they do have some nice options.

Most carpet places will do this for you. Either by doing it in house or sending it out to have it done.

Its called binding or surging. Two different looks. Binding is most common and cheapest. They put on a "ribbon" to match the carpet color and thats sewn on. You ll see this done on most all carpet samples they show.. Serging is basically a colored thread that is sewn contiuously around the carpet edge.

Check prices but I used to charge 2$ a l/f for binding or 120$ for your size rug .. And 3$ a l/f or 240$ for yours for serging. Get a quote...GL

sewed ? if you are talking about having the carpet edges bound some way . yes,, retail carpet warehouses do that . it is not cheap . you can do it yourself .search YouTube on how to do it . then go to carpet supply store and buy the tools to do it . they might sell the edging too . one way is to sew the edging . another is to glue it . and another way is to staple it on .
