Is it too early to ask this guy what his intentions are ?

I met this guy around the end of December at a restaurant. He works there. We been talking ever since. He's 35 and on 23. He's so far a really nice guy. He's been over my house slot and even spent the night. We did have sex the first time he came over. I know big mistake but after he still stayed in contact and still was interested. He's been really making an effort to come see me when he can which I like even though our work schedules are diffrent. I haven't seen him I about 2 weeks but he always txts me to ask me if on okay and what not. He's met my parents and they like him. I know we haven't been talking for months but I just wanna know what his intentions are with me but I don't want to scare him off or rush but I just really wanna know so I don't put all my time into a guy who dosent want what I want. Been down that road before and its not a good feeling. So how could I ask him without making him feel pressured or forced ?? I was gonna tell him over the phone rather then send him a txt . Also his bday is coming up and I was gonna do something sweet for him I just don't wanna spend money on a guy that's not gonna lead to something. Advice would be helpful. Thanks
