atheists: do you dislike christianity because its rules dont make sense to you?

I'm NOT an Atheist but I can use your question as an example of WHY many Atheists are sick of being harassed because they are different.

Tragic is that I bet you're not interested in understanding how un-Christlike you are are being & are to busy taking offence & thumbs down my comment.

Oh come on it is not God, Jesus, the bible or Chrsitianity but all the intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution posted by the BAD Christians!

England's Archbishop of Canterbury has said that Christianity is now known for it's hatreds and not about god!

ALL the other religions and atheists live in peace and are ONLY attacked by BAD Christians which causes all GOOD Christians to despair at the damage they do!

The self destruction of Christianity is underway and the only thing that can stop it is to abandon the terrible human emotions, seek to rediscover the idea of a loving god and act like it!

When you get through with the rules that make no sense...

there's all the miracles, traditions and fables christianity borrowed/stole from earlier religions.

there are the many bloody periods in which christians were slaughtered simply for having differences in opinions on religious matters.

There's the infinite misuses of scriptures by people justifying their own hatreds under a rubber stamp of approval from god.

There's the battle for the truth in which christians have repeatedly shown they have no compunctions about beginning massive campaigns of lies under the guise of 'truth' (evolution and homosexuality are the two biggest examples ~ nothing christians teach about either of these has a basis in truth.)

And I add that everything Artemis wrote is based in history and fact. However you will not find a christian who will acknowledge either the facts or history of their own faith even when they are widely known even amongst most of them!

Can't say for everyone else, but the rules are not coherent and pass up for common sense.

It's up for individual twists. That's where danger starts. A few other religions get higher grade (though not entirely logical).

i.e. making black and white lamb watch a twig while mating produces striped offspring; we see no talking snakes today, Noah's Ark survived through magic, etc.. I hope Christians like that.

@S.E.B: Thank YOU. My real Christian friends don't spend time talking or typing like this online. It serves only self-satisfaction and not making any religious difference. So many fake Christians on this site believing they are. Sad, sad truth. Glad someone normal comes around.

I think traffic laws are silly because what they do is create a false sense of security while driving on the road, for example you are stopped at a red light then the light turns green you assume the other drivers to be stopped at the red light while you cross the intersection of the road but then someone isn't paying attention to the red light and they hit your vehicle.

But guess what no matter how silly these traffic laws may seem to you it doesn't stop a law enforcement officer from writting a citation for having broken a traffic law.

More like because the rules are stupid, ignorant, bigoted, don't work in the real world, and have led to so much suffering and death that it truly can't even be tolled.

Not to mention, hypocritical.

A whole lot of contradictions up in that book.

Even more so when you start asking people what they believe the Bible says, and what the Bible actually says.

There's also the child abuse. A whole lot of that too.

So why would I want to respect or follow something that actively spreads that child abuse is great, and so is bigotry, and so is ignorance, and so is removing one self from reality while at the same time punishing and harming people?

I am an Atheist because I accept there is no god. It has little to nothing to do with what Christianity or any other religion has for "rules". You are not Hindu. Is it because you don't like their rules? Or is it because you do not believe in their god ideas?

,i guess most if not all of these answers come out of the u.s.a because i cannot believe some one in europe would loose their job for not subscribing to a particular religion,its like something out of the dark ages as for all the quoted comments about atheists going to hell !!!!!! well apart from my 85 year old mother and a few of her friends i can honestly say i dont know any open/church going christians.here in the u.k you are more inclined to be thought of as odd if you do take christianity as the true faith (i think offical figures put regular sunday church attendance at 6%) so to all you american atheists who are being persecuted for your lack of faith come over the pond and claim asylum.

That's one of the reasons. Somehow I doubt I will regret living in reality though.

The silly rules also imply the religion is false, since they are so obviously written by ignorant goat-herders.

I do not "dislike" Christianity but do not subscribe to it's belief in gods. Since Christian gods do not exist then are not the rules of man for man and not of some god?

So if your god asked you to cut the throat of your own child you would do so to prove to your god who supposedly knows all that you believe in it.

I pity your children if you have any.
