How can I determine what is causing strange sounds in the right front wheel of my car?

It's a 2001 Saturn SC2, (front wheel drive). I've had CV joints go bad on other cars and this doesn't sound like they did (rhythmic round). Could it be the wheel bearings?

Sure could be. If you jack up the car and shake the wheel and it's loose on all axis (up and down, side to side and X) it's the wheel bearing.

The other poster has a good answer it is probably the hub bearing (wheel bearing)

The bearing can still be bad even if it doesn't show signs of play!

Take the vehicle to a competent shop to have it diagnosed, this vehicle has "Press type" hub bearings that require a special tool to remove and install the bearings!
