Could I put my betta in with other fish?

My female betta Mary is really quite docile and I'd like to put her in with my other fish. there's only one guy I'm worried about, a lil friendly shark that's really hyperactive, and also a pretty tiny fish that's really bossy. neither of them have had any problems with new fish or any personalities of fish, and none of them are flashy, but I'm still worried. advice?

Maybe? Betta can live with a lot of other types of fish, but not with all of them.

But just mixing fish at random can end badly.

"Bossy" and "Shark" are two words that might be a problem. Betta with their long fins are targets for "bossy" or fin nipping fish, and none of the freshwater "shark" species are really compatible (too big or too aggressive)

Hard to say exactly if you don't know what fish you have in there currently?

there are many fish that are compatible as betta tankmates. The four rules that you can use to determine whether a fish is compatible are

    1) Not colorful or resemble a rival betta's colors (guppies)

    2) Not a fin nipper (Tiger barbs are a big NO)

    3) The right size for the size of the tank (No common plecos in a 10 gallon tank since they get to 2 feet in length)

    4) Lives roughly in the same water conditions as a betta (no brackish/saltwater fish)

    Hi Millie,

It is hard to tell how your fish will react with each other. I am no expert when it comes to Betta fish personalities. Some are very aggressive and some are very quite. It is a chance you have to take and observe. But from what i read over the web is that Betta fish love solitary life.

Okay to be honest I have females all together 6 females together. My male lives in a deffrent tank with 2 ghost shrimp. I would sahy if she isn't agressive than you can try to put her with some non agressive fish. If you want to get her a tank mate I would sudgest eathier ghost shrimp or snails.

IT depends on the Temperament of your Betta fish with other fish.It can work it may not work .

you could try but be on hand with a net just in case.
