I want to make a swing for my hamster, should I use string or wire?

I want to keep the swing in his cage, and I'll need to anchor it to the cage with something too or else he'll probably flip it over.

He doesn't seem like he really likes to chew things, I put a toilet paper tube in his cage and after weeks of it being in there I could only see a few little bite marks. But I'm worried that if I use string he'll try and take it for his nest and choke on it.

Would soldering wire work? It's easy to bend, so it would be easy to use that. What kind of wire should I use? And where could I buy said wire?

Update:

I found some twine, I read online twine is safe for hamsters, is that true? The twine is coloured but I'm pretty sure it's natural colouring.

Yeah you really shouldn't use anything that isn't safe for them to chew, rodents teeth continue growing their entire life, so they chew to keep them from overgrowing. Even if he's not interested in the tube, he could chew something else. I wouldnt use wire. That could be very dangerous. If you go to your local pet store you can find some "build it yourself" toys. Those are all safe for chewing and can be used to build all sorts of things. What about like wicker?

I would say wire as long as it is rodent friendly. String they would just chew apart, and the swing would eventually break.

    Hope I Helped:)
