What are the lines called that prisoners write on cell walls?

Okay, so I know this is a bit of a random question, which is why I'm asking it here, but do you know those lines are called that people write to symbolize five of something, with four lines standing straight next to each other and then a fifth going diagonally through them? I cant write it with my keyboard, so it's hard to explain. If anyone knows what I mean, I would be really grateful!!!

    "Tally marks" or "hash marks"

I call them hash marks. You put 4 straight lines then one line diagonally through it to make 5. It makes them easy to count. I use them for many other things.
