I don't believe in any of your man made Gods and I'm curious about where "human" life actually originated but I wouldn't say I "care" about it. I'm quite certain it didn't originate on this planet, tho.

Very few care.
Scientists like to eat and have to pay rent or mortgages. Therefore they have to be paid a salary if they are to work in science and not down at the feed mill greasing the machinery. Scientific grants, with a few exceptions are not handed out for "blue sky" research. No financial benefit is likely to be obtained by any company or government for working out how life began, therefore not many grants are for this, therefore not many scientists work on it. The only one that I know of is Jack Szostak and he got it because he won a Nobel Prize some years ago.
A tenured professor may be able to obtain funds for some "blue sky" research but even in such cases those handing out the money will be interested in any possible benefit. A large amount of the research in molecular biology is being done with an eye to possible medical benefits and much of that research ends up as patent applications. To run a patent application through most of the countries costs close to a million dollars in legal fees so they do not apply for them like applying for a library card.
The exception seems to be "big physics" and the large instruments of ":big physics" like giant telescopes and hadron colliders are now being paid for by several countries getting together and contributing some millions each.

Why do you think "origins of the universe" has anything to do with "where life came from"?
The four Billion year history of life on this planet is very interesting. Reality is many thousands of time more interesting than ridiculous religious fantasies.

None, I have better things to do with my time. I don't even see why it matters. We are here, get over it and just live your life.
If I were a scientist I would probably care more.

Most of us I would imagine.
but we are not yet ready to just blame it all on magic, like theists all do.
Reality is much more interesting than anything you can just make up, like your religion.

Not a lot of them, most people that are athiests are athiests cause they don't feel like caring and seeking knowledge. Even albert said : If a scientist doesn't believe in god, he is stupid.
