What Is the difference in the power and an exponent?

    The power of something could be... say, x^y. That whole thing is the power of x. An exponent would just be the ^y part.

    if you are referring to the usage when you have:

    (base)^n

    then power, exponent or index are used synonymously.

    there are, however, differences between "power function" and "exponential function."
