Do "movie style" hillbillies actually still exist in America?

By "movie style" I'm simply gonna go right ahead and assume ya'll know what I mean. Also, if they do exist, where in the states are they most likely to be found? According to most stereotypes, the deep south would be a region of interest.

Yes. Mostly they are found in Appalachia (West Virginia, eastern Tennessee) and the Ozarks

My cousin did a comic Horror film called "Redneck Zombies". After doing some research he set it in rural Maryland. Also there is a small town in NE Arkansas called Mountain Home that celebrates its hillbilly background.

If I wanted to "find a hillbilly" personally I would go the southern part of West Virginia.

Even small out of the way towns have all of the services of cities. Everyone knows who to find to help them. So don't assume you will find some country hick. My HS English teacher had a Master's degree in English from Columbia University though we were in my small town of 14,000.
