Problem transferring movies from DVD to Kindle?

I'm trying to upload movie files from an iMac to a Kindle. The files have been "converted" using MacX DVD ripper, and saved in the iMac's "Movies" folder. I have downloaded Android File Transfer as the Kindle instructions said, and I am supposed to be able to use it to transfer files from the Mac to the Kindle. When I drag and drop the movie file into Android File Transfer, the movie name appears there, but when I try to find the movie on the Kindle, all I get is an error message which says "Your device is offline. You have no downloaded movies." I can't figure out why the movies do not transfer once they have been dropped into "Android File Transfer." The titles are listed there, but nothing gets over to the Kindle itself. (And yes, it's connected to the iMac via a USB cable.)

Here is a customer discussion about sideloading movies to Kindle Fire w/ some instructions.

Note though - part of your problem may be the iMac. Apple products protect their memory space are resistant to sideloading and may also be picky about side-offloading. It might be helpful to get the file off the iMac and onto a PC and then transfer from the PC to the Kindle (or instead use Dropbox as the intermediate storage). At least that way you will know if the file ever moved OFF of the iMac.

What format are the movies in, and where did you get them? The Kindle will accept mp4 files as long as there's no DRM. Movies purchased through iTunes, for example, are in the correct format but have DRM that does now allow them to be transferred.

I don't know what this "Android file transfer" thing is, but you should just be able to plug the Kindle in through usb and move the files directly to the movie folder. It has to be in MP4 format though (I'm assuming this is a Kindle fire)
