Convert MS (Compatability mode) into normal?

I purchased a new computer so I had to get new software. I transferred over a bunch of word documents but they are listed as (comparability mode) and I think it is causing word to crash every 8 minutes.

Is there some way to convert a word document from the old (Comparability mode) into a newer word document?

And is there a way to do it to multiple documents at once (like highlighting multiple files in a folder).

I have office 2013 and windows 8.1

If there original IS from the old version of Word, here's all you need to do (Word 2010, I don't know anything newer):

    1) Load the old file

    2) Click on the File tab

    3) Select Save As

    4) Make sure the filetype is "Word Document (*.docx)"

    5) Give it a file name

    6) Click the Save button

The file has just been converted.
