Is Lord of the Flies OK for my 13 year old?

I haven't read it.

I know it's about schoolboys but that doesn't always mean it's OK for youngsters? Anything gruesome I should know about?

Thanks

Yes, unless s/he is really squeamish.

The boys come across a corpse of the pilot of their plane before they crashed, and also Piggy will die an unfortunate death.

I read it and I'm not traumatized.

It's about schoolboys who get stranded on a deserted island & how they allow their civility to crumble.

It's actually a very good read for a teenager & used to be required reading in many schools.

Yes, I read it when I was eleven. It's absolutely fine, and a great book for him to read.
