Whats the line between being open to music and randomly liking everything you hear?
Ive noticed two extremes; the close minded who listens to a handful of genres only (mainstream music fans, elitist death metallists) or the people who decide they must like every music and song they know.
Where is the fine line between liking too less and liking too much?

I was born in 1963 and I love music that crosses the ages and crosses genres. What I don't like falls into no specific category and people stuck in the past or who refuse to admit there is talent in other genres than rock are simply closed-minded. A true music lover can find music to love from every decade and every genre. My 17 year old daughter is just as open as me because we just can't live without music and what we want to listen to is entirely dependent upon changeable moods. Our CD's cover all there is to cover and we believe that the most talented artists are the one who can write and perform music across boundaries. A good example is Queen who are despised by a lot of people for venturing into pop and all sorts of types of music, but we know that simply shows more flexibility and diversity. That in the end means more talent.

There is no liking too much or liking too litte. Its all a matter of the individual preference.
Me, I have a degree in music, I teach Music, and I analyze music and I mostly listen to rock music only, and certain bands only. However I am open to any style of music, I would listen to it doesnt mean I will necessarily like it or enjoy it.
Those people that ¨like¨ everything they just like the sound of music, not any particular genre. Deep down they do have one genre they like more than the other.

I'll listen to any kind of music, and I'll usually like it too. I don't think there's such a thing as "liking too much music." We don't say someone likes too many kinds of food, or too many people. It's all based on preference. And there's plenty of music I dislike, too. I don't feel like I *have* to like everything, I just usually do.
Also, that "fine line" isn't that fine, when you think about it. There's a lot of space between those two extremes. And yeah, some people are pretentious pricks about music and others are totally fake, but we all knew that.

I'll listen to any kind of music and i'll like it. It's all individual taste, I listen to stuff I like the overall sound of such as beats, atmosphere, vocals. background music etc. If I don't like any of those in a song then chances are I wont like the song. There's no such thing as liking "too much" music, there's so much out there yet to be discovered that isn't played in certain countries or on the radio.
