Main stream Christians, what makes your beliefs any less outrageous than the Mormons and JWs?

I see a lot of Christians mock the beliefs of Mormons and JWs, claiming they are cults, even though main stream Christianity meets the very definition of a 'cult'.

You all claim to follow the Word of God, yet have beliefs that contradict the very word. Do tell. What makes your beliefs and claims any less outrageous (to an outsider) than theirs?

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES don't believe anything that contradicts the word of God. All biblical beliefs are "outrageous" to the atheist, in the same way that one of Einstein's équations is just squiggly patterns on paper to a three year old.

The statement that mainstream Christianity is a cult demonstrates two things...

    1) Your emotional bias (toward Mormons or JW's)

    2) Your lack of understand of the accepted definition of the word "cult"

Here's a dictionary definition....A cult is a religious group or other organization with deviant and novel beliefs and practices.

DEVIANT AND NOVEL BELIEFS AND PRACTICES..... Just what do you think this means if it doesn't mean deviant from the mainstream!

Furthermore your grasp of precision in communicating logical rational thought is woefully lacking..... "You all claim to follow the Word of God, yet have beliefs that contradict the very word." Wow!

I didn't know you knew me - pray tell what beliefs do I have that contradict his word?

Christian heaven: a place where we are sexless neuters with no gender. Our marriages are ended, and the loving spouse that we have spent decades with is off gallivanting around on some cloud, playing a harp. There is no gravity, no heat, and we are outside of space and time. We will sit on a cloud and play harps and sing praises to God forever. Billiions of years, singing the same hymns of praise to God. And the most righteous man gets to sit right next to the most vile sinner because this vile sinner was "saved" minutes before he died.

Mormon heaven: Realms similar to this earth but much more glorious. Gravity still works (Christian heaven has no gravity). We are still male or female. We all go to our respective places based on our faith and works (yes, works, read the Bible, it's there). We have the opportunity to be with our families still.

And you think Mormons are weird????

According to Neerp, Mormons have made up a heaven that will be so much more fun than the Christian heaven. Some Mormon beliefs are just as outlandish. Will they be able to keep those people that passed away unmarried from playing with themselves, as they try to do here on earth?

The lovely, feel good, narcissistic Mormon heaven is just as much made up as the Christian one.
