The dirty little secret is that simply driving a Prius, using compact fluorescent light bulbs, and recycling will make zero difference in global CO2 levels. Same with putting up solar panels or living off the grid. It's like pissing in the ocean.

In order to halt the increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration, the ENTIRE WORLD needs to reduce their emissions to zero. Anything less just slows the increase.

So get out there greenies and walk to work or take the bus or plant a tree. But don't think your actions will have a measurable impact on the perceived problem of global warming. Just remember, the next time you turn on the heat, or the air conditioner, or the stove, or even a light bulb, you are part of the problem.

    Jeff –

Moe – like most Deniers – compensates for his ignorance of science by projecting his paranoia onto others.

“Courage of one’s convictions” is not relevant in matters of informed opinion on scientific findings. It is relevant, however, when referring to Deniers who defame scientists while hiding in the shadows, but lack the courage of their conviction to make their accusations in public where they can be held responsible and accountable. They are like the Cowardly Lion faux-patriots who wave their flags and cheer for wars that are 10,000 miles away, but want no part of the brutality and horror that comes with being part of the fight.

Plenty of such people are OK with proposals to stop global warming because the impact on them is less. They might not have a car, so car taxes and gas taxes won't matter as much. People who live in cities tend to be wealthier and better able to absorb the higher energy prices, which are lower when packed into a cramped apartment anyway.

I do know plenty of people who love to live in high rise apartments, they have no lawn to mow, no snow to shovel and even their pool is well maintained. Not one of them is a member of a cult (unless you consider Hinduism, Christianity and Islam cults) I prefer to do all this myself while I am still able. I am looking to build a house that is FAR more energy efficient then my current abode. If it was up to me, I would have a tiny home, if it was up to my partner, it would be a mansion, so it will be something in between. It will have to be close enough to civilization to have decent Internet yet far enough away from other people so I can have a wood fired BBQ without any one being annoyed by the smoke.

If you, or any one else, have any suggestions, please email me. I am always looking for innovative, but workable idea's. I am currently researching heating and solar systems. While I get more then sufficient sunshine in summer, in the winter solar panels would not be able to provide sufficient power for my daily needs. It occurred to me that the waste heat from a natural gas powered generator could be used to heat the hot water and/or home as well as top up the batteries in winter. With gas prices as low as they are, my biggest concerns are fumes and noise.

I am also looking at electric cars as a future option, if I find I have excess electricity it would make sense to use it to power my car, I don't have many long trips in a year and I could rent a gasoline powered car for those rare occasions that I go further then 200 km (120 mi) in a single day [1]

AGW woke me up to the need to look at other options, economics is what is driving me to look further. So again please feel free to email me, especially if you have reasoned arguments what to watch out for or why it is a dumb idea. I expect it will be a couple of years before I do build and when I do, I want to take advantage of the new technology when it makes sense to do so. And I am not afraid to import from countries that are more advanced in technology.

They're far from cultists, they lack the courage to act on their convictions.

Oh some of them like Jeff like to make themselves feel like they're making a difference as if any of his own actions has anything to do with where his parents have a basement for him to stay.

And my partner would prefer a mansion? A true cultist wouldn't put up with someone they couldn't discuss his religous beliefs with.

No they aren't cultist, they're wanna be socialist, not willing to give up anything unless others are forced to do so too. They're the ones that cheered when the teacher took away your gum because you didn't bring enough for everyone.

CO2 is not an evil gas no matter how hard Alarmists try to demonize it. It doesn't drive warming, the Sun does.

Good science has known for a long time that the impact of CO2 on climate and/or warming is negligible, it's a trace gas and not even the dominate Greenhouse Gas.

CO2 is a blessing and not a curse and if anything, our atmosphere is currently CO2 deficient. There is no link between increased CO2 in the air and warmer global temperatures, that is a falsehood spread by Global Warming zealots that want to tax you on the production of CO2 --- which every human and animal exhales.

No correlation to show CO2 drives temperature (graphs)

Plants grow faster with more CO2 (indisputable scientific fact)

Well I live in an apartment 1 block away from a mass transit station. And I live in an area that gets it's power from hydroelectric and, right next to that mass transit station, they are building a geothermal plant district energy system, the first of three, that will power nearby houses and commercial properties.

    You ever look up "Vancouverism"?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouverism

Moe: so it comes down to insults once again eh? typical. I live in my own 'apartment'. I pay bills. Thanks. Keep em coming though. I expect people like you to continue complaining about how people like me are the ones who started and continue the name calling.

I love how these AGW supporters actually think the government cares and is concerned about our saftey and our future livelyhood. These ignorant drones think that they actually care.....they could careless. There is no solution, it is all BS. All they want is more power and turn us "common folk" including these people who support this garbage into slaves. This story here is a prime example. These rich globalist have the powers to control the economy, it sucks, these young adults growing up are struggling to get jobs and eat food and have shelter so these rich scumbags can relish in their power. Actually the smart growth concept is to place people in walkable neighborhood close to public transportation. it is an idea. noone in this country is forcing people into this

Once again deniers pick distractions because they have no proof AGW isn't real. Quit wasting our time
