How would be the BEST way to suggest someone not bring a dish to a party?

OK so my mom throws a viewing party every year for the Academy Awards. One of her friends started to bring a spinach dip that no one likes. I feel bad because I feel like its a waste of money for her to buy it and make it. We honeslty have enough food & my mom didn't ask her to bring anything just for her to show up.

No one wants to say "hey your dip is nasty!" So what would be a gentle way to let her know next year NOT to bring that dip without saying it?

Update:

it takes up space on the table & we have much better dishes to put out. We would like for her NOT to bring it. We don't want to hurt her feelings.

You could make it a dessert only oscar party - cheesecakes, cup cakes, chocolate cake etc - a dessert extravaganza! you can make desserts even look like the oscar gowns if you really want to have fun and get fancy with it - this also may bring out her creative side and most everyone has a sweet tooth.

A little wasted spinach dip is better than hurting the person's feelings. Next time you want to waste food or see food being wasted by anyone, take it, and find a use for it. That should make up for it.

Next time, tell her "Please do not bring anything, we have plenty of food to serve and limited space."
