"You can sell but you cannot buy." Have the ruling classes lost the plot?
A cross-party report concludes that Britain should adopt the 'Nordic Model' of law enforcement regarding prostitution. That is, allow prostitutes to ply their trade but criminalise their customers. Amid all the sanctimonious rhetoric, these politicians have conveniently overlooked the fact that prostitutes need those very customers if they want to pay the bills. The Nordic Model has forced the profession further underground in Scandinavia and disempowered many prostitutes, who now have less time to vet their clients. It has not transformed them into doctors and lawyers, made them safer or removed the social stigma of their trade.
The hypocrisy of MPs is rather sickening. They talk of protecting women but underneath lies a puritanical hatred of the lower classes and a profound social snobbery. If this law were put on the statute book in Britain, working girls (and boys, come to that) would be no better off than before. Who voted for these clueless wonders?

Huh, Yeah must make em feel really good with themselves, I wonder what the prostitutes want, bet diamonds they've not been asked though.
Clueless wonders no, clueless wonders divorced from reality, yes.

You have it wrong, it's not the "Nordic Model" it's the "Swedish Model" and the rest of Scandinavia disagree with this model. The Swedes are a very prudish nation and there general political thought pattern is that they have to legislate everything. There is a saying about the Swedes and Sweden and that's, if there's no legislation governing what one is doing, then it's illegal.
The Swedes are notorious drinkers and they can't hold their drink, that's why they have prohibition. There's a saying in Denmark. " Keep Denmark tidy, follow a drunken Swedes to the ferry"
The Danish Model is, prostitution is a business like any other and when they say with or without, that means, the price with or without VAT.

You've spoilt a good question with your class nonsense. The truth is society likes to portray prostitutes as victims but they are anything but and as we live in a society where men and women are supposed to be equal they shouldn't be getting special status in the law. It's like saying a man shouldn't be prosecuted for punching his wife because he's an alcoholic.
