    from a male Christian ...

Listen to Tiger, Shawn B. She knows about John McArthur and she is correct.

Is anyone perfect save Jesus Christ? Of course not. I am not and you are not and John McArthur is not perfect.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit takes place when a person repeatedly says things or has thoughts or takes actions which are counter to the teachings of Jesus, God's Son.

And that does not mean you can mildly (or fully) lambast the Bible and the Trinity (loudly or silently) and be a Christian.

You, Shawn B., must make a decision on whether to follow Jesus. But, take your time. Never be sold on purchasing something if you are not confident it would be worthwhile. Same goes for believing something. I spent seven months reading the Bible, listening to sermons, asking myself "Is that verse over there true? Or is Mark just saying that? Hmm.." One day, I simply said: "Christianity is rational. Makes a lot more sense than what I hear lots of people say. Even if there was some evolution, even if there was a big bang to get the universe expanding, well, you've got to start somewhere. There must be a God (with Christ and the Holy Spirit)." And I surrendered my life to Him.

He is the most righteous preacher alive. He stands on the Puritans side. That is kind of opposite of the Charismatic. Check out www.gty.org for his teachings. He is also author and editor of more then 150 books and his Study Bible is sold in more then 1 million copies translated to numerous languages. Please visit http://www.gty.org/ for more information.

He is in strong opposition to the "felt need movement" that see God as a servant only there to fill us up with all kind of goodies.

    Example from His Study Bible.

    Hebrews

11:1–40 The 11th chapter is a moving account of faithful OT saints and given such titles as, “The Saints’ Hall of Fame,” “The Honor Roll of OT Saints,” and “Heroes of Faith.” They all attest to the value of living by faith. They compose the “cloud of witnesses”(12:1) who give powerful testimony to the Hebrews that they should come to faith in God’s truth in Christ.

11:1 This verse is written in a style of Heb. poetry (used often in the Psalms), in which two parallel and nearly identical phrases are used to state the same thing. Cf. 1Pe 1:7—God tests our faith in the crucible.

assurance. This is from the same Gr. word translated “exact representation” in 1:3 and “assurance” in 3:14. The faith described here involves the most solid possible conviction, the God-given present assurance of a future reality.

conviction of things not seen. True faith is not based on empirical evidence but on divine assurance, and is a gift of God (Eph 2:8).

John Fullerton MacArthur, Jr. (born June 19, 1939) is an American fundamentalist Christian pastor and author known for his internationally-syndicated radio program Grace to You. A popular author and conference speaker, he has served as the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California since February 9, 1969[1] and also currently serves as the president of The Master's College in Newhall, California and The Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California.

Theologically, MacArthur is considered a Calvinist, and a strong proponent of expository preaching.[2] He has been acknowledged by Christianity Today as one of the most influential preachers of his time,[3] and was a frequent guest on Larry King Live as a representative of an evangelical Christian perspective.[4]

MacArthur has authored or edited more than 150 books, most notably the MacArthur Study Bible, which has sold more than 1 million copies and received a Gold Medallion Book Award.[5] Other best-selling books include his MacArthur New Testament Commentary Series (more than 1 million copies), Twelve Ordinary Men, (more than 500,000 copies),[6] and the children's book A Faith to Grow On, which garnered an ECPA Christian Book Award.[7]
