Do women listen to Prog Rock?

Just wondering if any of you has met a girl in real life who is obsessed or likes prog rock? I just want to know they exist.

BQ: what am I smoking, of course they exist. But how common are they? I live in Sydney, will I ever have the chance of meeting a female prog lover in person?

I met one at a party a long time ago, coincidentally the only person I've ever met who agreed that losing Steve Hackett was a bigger blow to early Genesis than losing Peter Gabriel. Unfortunately, her husband was there, mightily suspicious and wearing a Ted Nugent T-shirt, so the conversation didn't go as far as I might've liked. Otherwise, the only female proggies I've ever met were women I turned on to the genre myself.

BQ: what ARE you smoking? (Hmmmm). While I don't know anything about Sydney at first-hand, it IS a large and cosmopolitan city, so you should be able to find like-minded people. Maybe talk to male prog-rockers, and ask to meet their girlfriends? Generally, I've found this particular genre tends to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, so women who date proggers are likelier to love-it. Avoid their exes, however; they're often exes because they can't stand the stuff.

Sadly I haven't met too many prog fans that are women -- I know plenty that like Pink Floyd, but as the "gateway" prog band, that's probably because they're on classic rock stations all the time. My sister's started to get into some prog bands, probably influenced by my tastes and our Dad's, and there are women on fan sites and message boards, of course. But I've never been able to start off a conversation with a girl on the street about the genius of Robert Fripp or the merits of Gentle Giant's "Interview" (not that there are any). Keep talking about prog though -- eventually you're bound to stumble on a 7-10 who jams to ELP.

I am a woman who grew up in the 60's and 70's listening to The Moody Blues, Roxy Music, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Electric Light Orchestra, Blood Sweat & Tears, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rush, The Alan Parsons Project, Styx, Saga, Asia, and Toto, as did both of my two older sisters. Now I have great appreciation for Tool and Dream Theater, amongst others. Do not be so quick to assume that women do not enjoy and respect such artists.

I like RUSH and Yes and sometimes people think I am a woman from behind. I have been told I have a fantastic butt. Then I turn around and they see my mustache.
