My Industry would become a lot stronger. Railroads are the most fuel efficient form of transportation. I would probably get a raise as more money starts flooding into our company. Plus since I live about 15 minutes from work I could bike to work and the grocery store.
Trains can move a ton of freight nearly 500 miles on a single gallon of fuel. That is far far more efficient than transportation by Truck. Plus more people would start using Amtrak which would help them out a lot.

Either find a closer job, and buy a bicycle and leave for work at 4 AM. No way could I afford that

I would have to ride a bike everywhere.
I'm too lazy to do that, though, so I'd probably just never leave the house.

If gas went up that much, everything would be different, not just gas prices.
