How do you replace calipers w/abs breaks on a 2001 buick lesabre?
I am working on my car today and I needed to know how to replace the calipers on my 2001 Buick Lesabre. I have ABS breaks and I know sometimes you have to bleed the breaks a special way if you have ABS and you have to baby them more.
Also if you know of any website that would have this information please post link in your answer.
Thanks

You need to clamp the brake hoses lightly before taking them off the caliper. This keeps the system from draining. After putting the new calipers on you will need to bleed them. I prefer using 2 people to bleed the brakes. I've never needed the Tech II scan tool to activate the ABS pump while bleeding brakes on your model. Make sure the bleeder screws are on the top of both calipers when mounted. I've seen a lot of DIYers put them on wrong with the bleeder screws on the bottom. Do it like that and you will never get the air out.

Remove the brake hose or line going to the caliper. Remove 2 caliper mounting bolts from their brackets, yours I believe are either Allen head or Torx type bolts. and remove caliper. Reverse procedure, Then after caliper replacement bleed brakes starting from RR,LR,RF,LF. Good luck and hope this helps.

You want to open the bleeder screw as you compress the piston back into the bore. That prevents gunk from being forced backwards into the ABS valve unit. As soon as the piston is seated, close the bleeder screw. Worst thing you can to in an ABS system is to let air get into the ABS valves. Then you need a scan tool to bleed it.

your ABS sensor is usually not in the calipers. You remove the brake line, remove the bolts holding caliper on, remove it. take out pads. replace pads into new caliper, attach caliper, attach brake line, and bleed.
