what's the name of the pit Joseph's brothers threw him into in Egypt?

    His brothers didn't throw him into a pit in Egypt. They threw him into a pit in the open fields of their native land to die but then felt guilty and jumped on an opportunity to sell him into slavery to those passing through on their way to Egypt, which is how he ended up there but didn't start there.

    He was kept in the pit, not thrown into it and it was in Cananan not Egypt and small holes in the ground do not normally assume names, including this one.

    There was no name given, it was probably a dried-up well.
