last month's rent?

what does last month's rent really means? is it the last month of the lease agreement? what if it goes month to month?

    Its the rent for the last month you rent there... be it the last of the lease if you move out then or 20 years from now if you stay there that long.

    The last month's rent can be the last month of the lease or the last month you will live at the rental.

    It is the last month the rent can legally be collected. Thus if your lease expires and you remain as a month to month tenant, the last month is the last month you remain in the property.

    But if you were to break the lease and leave before the end of the term, the last month would either be the last month of the original term or the last month the property remained empty before the property was re-rented (which ever comes first).
