I need a Thesis Statement! - Civil War?
Okay So I had to write a paper in American Literature about A change in American History, so I chose the topic of the Civil War but I really need a thesis statement because I am terrible at these! It should be a fact about the civil war and state my idea about how the civil war has changed American history. can somebody please help!

Well, from my position up here in Canada ...
The abolution of slavery must have been the greatest change.
What about the New York City draft riot? Did that affect 1) Black / white relations in the North? 2) the attitude of the North toward continuing the war?
What about the provision for those who did not want to fight paying for a surrogate?
Was the South still an agrarian society after the Civil War, or did it stimulate the growth of industry (factories, ship-building)? Did it stimulate industry in the North?
Did the South (or North or both sides) suffer from the loss of so many men killed in battle or by disease?
Did the Civil War change medicine / surgery / sanitation practices?
The U.S. (and / or the Confederate states) attitude towards Britain abstaining from getting involved. How did it affect relations between the two nations? How did it affect U.S. - Canadian relations? (and the other British North American colonies, since Canada was only 2 provinces at the time)

Hitler lost ww II, this lead to america being a superpower, so today we have troops all around the world.
