Samsung DLP Tv Humming sound?
I have a Samsung DLP TV that just started today with a humming sound. The color/picture/sound is fine. It starts immediatly when the tv is turned on and remains humming for about 30 seconds after the tv is turned off. I think it's a cooling fan just not sure...any suggestions?

With a DLP set, there are multiple possibilities that could cause a humming sound.
The color wheel - pay attention to if the hum starts right away or becomes louder as the wheel spins up. If this is happening, the color wheel may be starting to come apart. Not a terrible fix on a Samsung set.
The lamp inverter is a strong possibility. The lamp itself may be failing, or there may be capacitors failing on the board. Try removing the lamp, replacing the door, and power up the set. It will cycle down soon - but listen for the presence of the hum. If it is not there, you are about 50/50 between a failing lamp drawing excessive current and the inverter going out. The Inverter board is on the right rear corner of the set.
I do recommend blowing the dust out of the set. It's amazing how much dust a DLP set pulls in. A Samsung will have 3 fans, a large one at the inside of the lamp tunnel (main dust draw), a smaller one on the DLP chip and a third one with an intake on the A/V panel. All are smallish DC motors, and they won't hum, but it's a good idea to blow out the dust from time to time. A combination of canned air and a vacuum cleaner to suck in the dust works.
While I urge people to not open flat panel and CRT based sets, DLP sets aren't as dangerous as the high voltage area is the user-replaceable lamp. So while unplugged, it's okay to pull the rear cover off provided you use common sense.

There are two moving parts in a DLP TV. The cooling fan and the color wheel. The fan does run after the TV is powered off so I agree with your suspicions. Probably clogged with dust.
