What do you believe about this vast and amazing universe?

I really want to know what people believe about this universe, is it really that this vast extraordinary universe just came out of nowhere and that we live and die, the end? That's facked up shiz.

So where did the idea of creationism come from? You can't say it came from fear, if it did, why are we fixated to make things up to decrease our fear of what's coming next?

Things in this universe are too special, they are fixated and work just right, we can't really explain why things are the way they are and why they couldn't have been different. We just work with what is.

So why do we have people who doubt an supernatural being? As far as I know, monotheistic religions believe God is a light but can take several forms on what they call the day of judgement. So he doesn't have a form of speech like we do and he apparently does have a form that will be reveled to the people in paradise.

I don't get it, why by nature are we very philosophical? We look for answers and naturally want to believe in a might God.

Update:

I don't get why people who proclaim to adhere to science immediately doubt any supernatural aspect of this universe even though they can't prove or disprove it according to them. So it seems some of you are insisting on denying a supernatural cause to this universe rather than trying to be objective about it. That only hurts your cause...it makes your cause appear selective, that you want to erase a common belief from the human race rather than be balanced about it and not dismissive.

Yes, it is vast and amazing. And it is amazing that we live at all. Why do so many people demand an afterlife before they can find or create meaning in this life? What would existing eternally add to our "meaning" that existing temporarily cannot have?

I can indeed say creationism and other aspects of theistic belief arose from fear. Fear of death, fear of a godless, amoral universe, fear of earthquakes, fires, floods, storms, volcanos, wild animals, disease... If we could believe there was a kind father who created this world just for us, and who was always watching out for us, we might feel less afraid.

"Things in this universe work just right"... and so that explains why suns die, asteroids collide with other heavenly bodies, our planet has much natural upheaval, etc.?

I don't "believe" anything about this universe, I prefer to learn about it and to understand what I don't know about it.

People who rely on belief tend to believe that something "supernatural" was involved with the universe, but the evidence that would objectively support such claims simply does not exist and all evidence strongly suggests that the universe and everything in it is simply the product of natural processes.

We don't "naturally look for answers" or "naturally want to believe in a might God", as a simply survey of human beliefs and thoughts across the globe throughout history will show you. Historically, we make up "explanations/stories" and tend to believe in multiple gods that are very similar to us in actions and motivations.

If atheists are right, then we are just the result of some bug that crawled up on a beach somewhere. We are nothing: the same as any pig or fish on the planet. Our brains would be the result of billions of cosmic accidents and therefore could not be trusted for rational thought. There would be no reason for life. No purpose. No hope. We should proclaim ourselves as nobodies with no worth because it would be true (if there was no creator). This is all we will ever get and all we will ever be.

    Or they are deluding themselves.

    You're right.

This universe is amazing. It functions in a certain way that we just can't seem to figure out, no matter how hard scientists try.

At the end of the day, only the one who set it all up knows about it.

It's a slap in the face that certain people deny His very existence, talking about mother nature and evolution and the big bang. Like what the heck ? So all of this just came out of nowhere? It was all set up properly just randomly ?

    Makes no sense.

It's an insult. Shame in these people.

God is amazing. He already knew humans would deny him and badmouth him, disobey him. And yet...he created them. And yet...he continues to feed them and protect them and gives them life anyway. Amazing.

On the day of judgment, they will be recompensed for all that they used to say, all that they use to associate with him .

Well, I believe we are not the only intelligent beings in the universe...I don't believe in God. However I do not agree death is the end. Before we are born we are all "non-existing" everyone of us.We've all literally all been dead before. Do you think when we where little sperm cells, we knew anything about the world before us? what was it in those tiny sperm cells that told us where to go in a woman's uterus to become alive? how did we know where to go? our brains know things we don't even know, they have instinct naturally...they have their own intelligence...we only use half of our brain! the brain does other things all on its own...it has things prepared for us.

We have explanations for how the universe formed, which are backed up by evidence. Gods were used by ancient people to explain the world, because they did not have the knowledge we have today.

All things supernatural are man made.

This universe is so chemically rich, it is very likely that there is extra terrestrial life somewhere out there.

  • According to the 'physical' laws of the universe, everything can be mathematically modelled and reduced to a simple and powerful equation that can predict motion and phenomena. I'm a physicist btw.

Believe in the supernatural until we can explain it with a logical answer
