Netflix Online Help?!?!?

My mom called me and told me she signed up for netflix... for $12/month. She gave me the username and password and told me to enjoy. We got to talking and while we were, i tried to login. It failed on all my laptops (Windows 8 netflix app, and yes its up to date), my tablet, my phone, and my ipod touch (3rd Generation -- I hate it). I want to watch online, not DVDs. When i went to the netflix website from my computer, it came up with this huge list of DVDs I could add to my list to have sent to my parents house. The password worked just fine on the netflix website, just not on the apps. How do I watch it online? Is there a way my mom just signed up for DVD only? Is online streaming free if I (My parents) already got "DVD only"? Thanks!
