Why people here say sugar makes you fat?

I would like a scientific proof of that because to my knowledge only a chronic caloric surplus can make you fat, whether it's sugar, complex carbs, dietary fat or proteins doesn't matter much at this regard.

Update:

@ Dave: Even if in caloric deficit? Let me doubt that if your chronic energy intake is lower than outtake you will gain weight.

@ Thatguy: Good explanation... Doesn't change the fact that sugar isn't inherently fattening without total diet context.

@ Sum: See my first post... Insulin is the messenger but energy flux determines weight and nothing else.

Sugar doesn't make you fat, nothing makes you fat particularly. You only become fat if more calories are entering the body than what is being burned. (To a degree)

sugar is a high calorie quickly processed simple carbohydrate. You can pack a ton of it into small packages. Sugary drinks are quick calories a won't fill you up. you are right that a surplus will make you fat but it is sugar that kicks up the calories of most peoples diets in the western world.

Ya - makes you fat as a barrel. what happens is you eat bread or candy bars or whatever - and the stuff is changed rapidly into glucose (sugar) in your blood stream. We tend to eat WAAAAY too much sugar for our bodies - so most of the sugar goes unused.

The body then changes it into Triglycerides which is "blood lipid" - or fat - and that fat is stored on your butt as blubber.

So yes - from sugar to blubber.

Use spray oil as an alternative to pouring. One squirt contains one calorie compared to 120 calories from a tablespoon. If you use oil with your cooking daily, this small change could lose that you stone over the year.

People who plan their weekly meals are more successful at losing weight than people that don’t. Plan your dishes to feature healthy carbs such as sweet potato and wholegrain pasta, vegetables and lean proteins, buy each of the ingredients in advance and don’t be tempted to nibble on out or order in.

Cold showers: They not only burn 500 extra calories every day, studies from The New The united kingdom Journal of Medicine cite which the icy water also activates ‘brown fat’ – the nice type of body fat that creates body heat, increases metabolic rate and burns off naughty white fat.

Time your ingesting and exercise appropriately. Never eat prior to work out, and wait 30 to 60 minutes after training to be sure you catch your metabolism from its highest.
